The governor of CA has mandated all state workers return to office as of July 1st, 2025.
This is a waste of your taxpayer dollars. During the COVID-19 pandemic, telework increased from ~18% of workers to ~62%. With this shift to remote work, productivity also increased.

A movement has started to place billboards around the Sacramento region to illustrate the wastefulness and resistance to RTO. Over $11,000 in funding was raised in approximately 24 hours by concerned Californians to pay for several billboards in highly visible areas where commuters will be stuck in traffic. The support behind the movement illustrates the number of individuals who believe the return to office mandate is not a solution to any number of problems with downtown Sacramento.
The "Return to Office" mandate is a step backwards. If evidence shows increased productivity, increased worker satisfaction, and savings for the state of California, where is the logic in decreasing productivity, increasing traffic/pollution, increasing the state budget to pay for office space? What makes more sense to you? Tax dollars being spent to fix homelessness or commercial real estate?
